Over 220 guests attended the annual Education is Everybody’s Business Breakfast on May 11, celebrating our donors and the year’s accomplishments. Thanks UICCU members! Through your generosity we received over $20,000 for our schools through UICCU’s Give and Grow Initiative.
The April 6 Dine Out for Education event pushed us over the $100,000 mark in total funds raised during six years of Dine Out events! Thank you to the 60 restaurant partners that have participated over the years and the innumerable hungry diners that helped us reach this milestone! Run for the Schools Raises Over $68,000!
Over $68,000 was raised this year for ICCSD schools at the annual Run for the Schools on Sunday, October 16!! Thanks to all our ICCSD students and families for their hard work and training for the run! Shimek Elementary Sharks were presented with the 1st Place RFTS Torch Trophy for having the highest percentage of participating students, with Hoover and Lincoln Elementaries a very close second and third. Academic Booster Club
Who’s All in for our Schools! You can be by joining the Academic Booster Club (ABC) which supports Visiting Author, Symphony Goes to School, and School of the Wild, as well as secondary school STEM initiatives! LiveArts @Hancher 2016
New this school year! All 8th graders in the District experienced a live arts performance of Step Afrika! at Hancher in October! Any Given Child is spearheading this out of classroom experience. Learn more about this amazing opportunity for our students.
Author Visit in October
Iowa City author Delia Ray visited with ICCSD 5th and 6th graders this year to discuss her writing and books. Ms. Ray has published three non-fiction books about American history and four novels for young readers. Hills Bank sponsors the Visiting Author program.
