School of the Wild

Even though School of the Wild has finished up for their fall sessions, here is a look back at how this awesome program makes sure that all students get to experience their week outdoors.

Offices Closed

Iowa City Community School District FoundationThe ICCSD Foundation and the ESC offices are closed until April 13, 2020.  The best way to reach Foundation staff at this time is through email at Foundation@iowacityschools.org.  You can still support our schools and make donations online or by mailing a check to our offices at 1725 N Dodge St, Iowa City, IA 52245.

Witinok Awards Application Available

The application for the 2020 WITINOK ADVANCING SCIENCE EDUCATION AWARDs is now available.  The awards, established in 2018 to honor retiring science educator Dr. Pat Witinok, serve to advance science education and promote sustainability in the ICCSD schools.  ICCSD students  and science staff from grades 7-12 are eligible to apply by April 3, 2020. Give and Grow!

Give & Grow from GreenState Credit UnionCOMING SOON! Look for your opportunity to GIVE during the GreenState Credit Union Give and Grow program starting on April 13.  If you are a GreenState Credit Union member, you will have the opportunity to donate to the ICCSD Foundation through May 15 and watch your donation GROW with a match from GreenState.

Big Idea Hunt

Big Idea Hunt logoWe have launched our first ever Big Idea Hunt for the spring Excellence Fund Grant cycle! The Foundation is giving back up to $100,000 for innovative, collaborative and creative ideas our District staff want to try.  40 proposals were submitted for inital consideration and 21 of those were chosen to advance to STEP 2 of the process.   Thank you to Integrated DNA Technologies for helping us with this new Big Idea! Stay tuned for grant award announcements this spring!

Every School, Every 6th Grader Art Project

Any Given Child 6th Grade Animation Project:  From December through February, artist Mark Jones will be working with every sixth grade art class in the Iowa City Community School District to introduce students to light painting animation and the PABLO app. During a one hour workshop, students will create an animated loop to be composited into an all-district “fireworks show” video.
