Dine Out a Success!

Dine Out for Education

The spring Dine Out for Education, held on April 4, raised nearly $13,000 for our schools!  We had 43 restaurant partners to choose from and many, many diners!   THANK YOU to our local businesses and to all who dined in support of our schools.  Mark your calendar for our fall Dine Out event on September 12.

Silver Salute

The Iowa City Community School District honored 105 retirees and 25 year staff members at the annual Silver Salute reception on May 9, 2019.

School Supply Drives

Schools supply drives are a helpful way to make sure all our students get off to a great start in the fall.  Any collected supplies may be dropped off between August 12-14 at the ESC building at 1725 N Dodge Street.  Our Student Family Advocate staff will distribute supplies to students at the start of the school year.  Here is a list of most needed items for our students:  School Supplies Needed

Grants Awarded

The ICCSD Foundation Board has awarded $75,000 in Excellence Fund grants for our classrooms and schools for the 2019-2020 school year.  Congratualtions to the 8 groups awarded!

Witinok Science Awards Made

Four WITINOK ADVANCING SCIENCE EDUCATION AWARDs were given out in 2019 to three teachers and one student.  The award, established in 2018 to honor retiring science educator Dr. Pat Witinok, advances science education and promotes sustainability in the ICCSD schools.

2019 Awardees

Krisha Kapoor, 8th grade – $400 for lead filtration project

Anglea Knutson, Teacher– $400 to include STEM Innovator challenge in 10th grade Biology

Tyler Pauley, Teacher – $500 for a summer course

Sasha Shomshor, Teacher – $298 for a STEM education course

Run for the Schools

Save the date! Our annual Run for the Schools will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019. This family-friendly event includes Half-Mile, Mile, 5K, 10K and Half-Marathon races, with participants ranging in age from 2 to over 70.
