In addition to supporting the core Targeted Programs in our schools, the ICCSD Foundation Board has once again committed to awarding grants this spring to our teachers, staff, classrooms, and schools – in total up to $75,000 in 2019. Grant money will be available starting July 1, 2019 to be used for projects in the 2019-2020 school year.
How to Apply for a 2019 Excellence Fund Grant
The Foundation’s grant program is a competitive, District-wide process available to all District staff. Excellence Fund grants are awarded to the most creative, innovative and promising ideas in the hopes that they will remain sustainable for years to come. Staff should apply for a grant as a collaborative team of at least three members.
Excellence Fund grant awards are available up to $10,000 each and are awarded after a thoughtful, thorough evaluation by a Grants Committee consisting of educators, administrators and ICCSD Foundation Board members. To be considered, your Excellence Fund Grant application must be submitted to the ICCSD Foundation no later than Friday, March 15, 2019 by 4 pm.
The grants committee will review all applications, with the Foundation’s Board of Directors giving final approval. Grant recipients will be notified when a group of ICCSD Foundation Board members and staff unexpectedly arrive to present a giant check – some time prior to the end of April!
All Excellence Fund grants should support the mission and vision of the Iowa City Community School District. These grants are intended to fund innovative and collaborative ideas or projects that:
- are NEW or DIFFERENT;
- are outside the core school BUDGET: and
- have the potential to produce BETTER OUTCOMES for students.
We ask that you have a team of three or more participants involved in this project and grant application. Grant applications that clearly articulate how the proposed projects align to District priorities, the Iowa Core Curriculum or the learning standards/benchmarks of the District will be viewed more favorably.
