The establishment of public and private partnerships within our schools in the Iowa City Community School District is what the Support-A-School program is all about. The Support-A-School program was launched in 2016 to improve student performance and engagement, while creating a network Johnson County General Assistanceof community support for schools. Four formal school-business partnerships were established in the 2016-2017 school year.
School Supply Drive
Leading up to the 2018-2019 school year, a school supply drive was held to provide much needed supplies to students in elementary, junior high and high school to start off the new school year. The donated backpacks, notebooks, paper, crayons and other school needs filled the conference room at the District ESC office. Thank you to all who brought in supplies:

What can Support-A-School Community Partners Do?
Our schools can use assistance in all sorts of ways. And each school’s needs are a little different. We work with the schools and the community partners to make a plan for assistance that provides the schools help where they really need it, but also considers the strengths and resources of the community partner. Here are just a few ways Support-A-School partners might help.
