The establishment of public and private partnerships within our schools in the Iowa City Community School District is what the Support-A-School program is all about. The Support-A-School program was launched in 2016 to improve student performance and engagement, while creating a network of community support for schools. Four partnerships have been established in the 2016-2017 school year, with several others in the works. Our goal is to continue to expand the Support-A-School district wide over the next few years.

What can Support-A-School Community Partners Do?
Our schools can use assistance in all sorts of ways. And each school’s needs are a little different. We work with the schools and the community partners to make a plan for assistance that provides the schools help where they really need it, but also considers the strengths and resources of the community partner. Here are just a few ways Support-A-School partners might help.
